Hotel Report – Parq J.W. Marriott, Vancouver, B.C.

And now for something completely different…well, maybe not really. As I travel, I realize that some of the cities, towns, and resorts are amazing! (Of course, the Maldives is hard to beat.) I’ve decided to add “Hotel Reports” to YouTube and supplement them on this blog. First up, the Parq J.W. Marriott in Vancouver, B.C.

This Canadian resort, the Parq, boasts two separate hotels, the aforementioned J.W. Marriott and The Douglas. Additionally to the two hotels, the Parq also includes a multi-level casino and four restaurants.

J.W. Marriott Room

My guest room is fairly typical with with two queen beds. The bed and bedding are some of my favorite with high thread count sheets and a firm, but not too firm mattress, mini bar, in-room Illy coffee maker.

Additionally, the hotel provides slippers, one of my favorite amenities. Slippers are not an expensive amenity and are not what you would describe as super plush and extra comfortable after all, but it just seems to put a hotel in a different category.

Soaps, shampoo, and lotions in a bathroom are by Molton Brown of London. I have no awareness of Molton Brown before staying at the Parq J.W. Marriott, but the fragrance imbued in the soap in particular reminds me of the soaps provided in the Maldives. Anything reminding me of the Maldives becomes an instant favorite!

On-Site Dining

The Parq J.W. Marriott has a variety of on-site drink and dining options, I ate at two of their restaurants, B.C. Kitchen and Honey-Salt. B.C. Kitchen provides basic pub selections such as pizza and burgers. I had street tacos for lunch one day, good but not especially memorable. B.C. Kitchen is located in the casino area for a convenient snack while gambling.

In addition to the lunch at B.C. Kitchen, I had an excellent dinner at Honey-Salt. Honey-Salt is described as a bistro style restaurant and is just off the lobby of the hotel.

I did manage to capture my dinner at Honey-Salt, gluten-free fresh greens and berry salad with blue cheese crumbles followed by a chicken curry! The fresh berries paired with the blue cheese crumbles are an excellent sweet & savory pairing. The curry was jut the right amount of spicy (for me) as well. Both selections were excellent and I’d get them again.

The Park

Tucked between the hotel complex and B.C. Place is a central green space called the Park. I observed more ducks and geese in this green space than humans! One of the Parq J.W. Marriott restaurants that I didn’t have the opportunity to visit was the Victor. I suspect the Victor can open up into the Park allowing visitors into this ubran green space for a special dining experience!

The Casino

I am a regular visitor to Las Vegas and enjoy gaming, slot machines and 21. I was surprised to find a CASINO at the Parq J.W. Marriott. Slots are adult video games today, providing entertainment as long as you are willing to pay, of course. PSA: don’t play if you can’t lose the money!

Wrap Up

The Parq J.W. Marriott is a fantastic resort in Vancouver, B.C. Canada. I look forward to a return visit. Filled with amenities within this vibrant city, the Marriott is a great base for a visit to Vancouver!
